Gifts That Keep On Giving!

Wednesday, May 6, 2009, 12:15 PM PST [General]

How exciting it was a couple of weeks ago to honor the 83rd. birthday of our dear friend Dr. Werner Langer.  We gave him the gift of a goat! The goat does not go directly to him but to a family in need in another country. It was really quite simple to do this. We had found a great website Heifer International. From there we clicked on "GIVE" and selected our living gift that would be given in Dr. Werner's name. We chose a goat, but you can also select flocks of chicks, geese, ducks, lambs, goats, bees, cows etc.

If you are looking for a gift to give some who has everything...then this is the site to go to. The gift keeps on giving making a huge impact on providing food and income to a family.

An example: In Tanzania, Omari and Kulwa were struggling to raise a family on just 50 cents a day. With the training and a flock of chicks they received from Heifer, egg sales have boosted their daily income to $2. so now they can buy food and still pay school fees. Now, through passing on the gift, (they share some of the offspring of the chickens) all of the children in their village are going to school.

Please take a few minutes to check out this organization's web site....it is truly amazing all that they are doing around the world!

Please join us in posting "Good News" to this site and shaing the website with others.

    Have a great day,

    Toys For Thailand!

Friday, January 30, 2009, 10:41 AM PST [General]

    Greetings,

I just wanted to share with all of you an update on Sasha Blair's goodwill in Thailand. Some of you may be following my blogs on the orphans in Thailand and what Sasha and others from the Toys for Thailand Foundation are accomplishing. See my December 29th blog.

My mother, Imo and I are close friends with Sasha and have made it one of our goals this tear to continue our support in helping create a safe and clean environment for theses orphans. The pictures show the kids repainting the boys dorm and getting ready for their new beds. Sasha and the team provided a very rare treat, Pizza for the children who helped with the clean up and painting. Through generous donations Toys for Thailand was able to purchase 100 new beds and have a new bathroom constructed.

The Wat Don Chan orphanage currently is the home to over 650 children. Sasha says another 100 are expected this year. Please watch this short video Click Here and see how an idea and actions of just a few people have changed so many lives. My mom and I invite you to join us in helping make a better life for these children.

Sasha will return any day now to San Diego her home. She has been in Thailand since Dec. 14th overseeing the project. Last week when I emailed her to see what was on her wish list for 2009 she replied with the wish of another 100 beds. The cost of a bed for a child is just $35.00 a very small portion of what a bed would cost here in the United States. If you would like to contribute Click Here www.toysforthailand.org.
